Words Matter.jpg

What you say matters. Your words and the context you use them in should matter more than your tone or facial expression. In our world overcrowded with catchphrases, many are overused and misused. Most often, we misinterpret the real meaning behind the words because we become distracted by how the person looked or sounded when the words were spoken. It is not until later that we wish we had responded differently, or we had used the statement in a more considerate and effective way ourselves or not used it at all.

Using examples from the last twenty years of growing up corporate, I break down seven overused statements to help you determine 1) how a statement might be misused, 2) the potential consequences of misuse, and 3) some ways to deal with those who might misuse it on you. The chapters are short and concise, saving you time and making it easy to keep this eBook handy on your device to reference when you need it.

Short eBook with expanded chapters and bonus content based on the seven-week blog Civilized Woods: Regrasping My Sanity. Alternating between mind (walking, socializing, learning) and body (housework, cardio, food), and concluding with something that impacts both, you can read about how I regained my sanity while working from home and traveling sporadically. The eBook is not a formula or a recommendation. You may utilize it as you see fit, or not at all, knowing there are others like you trying to balance mental and physical wellness whether living in the woods or bustling cities. I have lived in both, and a few situations in between, so can relate to the feeling of days starting to blend into each other.

In September 2025, I pulled the book from Amazon because it was not my best published work. It was just my first published work, and I learned many valuable lessons. But now it's back! Click on the image or here to buy on Amazon.
