Last week, we left off with Eliza offering Meena a job to kick off a new chapter in Meena’s life. The decision is an easy one for Meena, but she fights her desire for something new and leaves the final word to her father, Rakesh, and her cousin, Ram. They decide to take the risk, and Meena begins her employment as well as friendship with Eliza. Why was letting Meena work for the Whitefield family a risk for the Kumar family? You will just have to read the book to find out.

Meena and Eliza become fast friends who share more than just a daily routine. Meena educates Eliza on what it means to be a widow in India and learns from Eliza why the Englishwoman specifically picked her for the job. Along with a monthly salary from Henry, Meena begins to learn more about the man with the deep blue ocean eyes. First, the rough exterior is just that, an exterior necessary for the world to take him seriously so he can build a life for himself and now his sister.

Second, as Meena learns overtime, Henry knows more about her than she thinks he does. It turns out he has been doing more than looking back into her eyes over the two years she has been living in her father’s house. Now, he wants a chance to do more than just watch her from afar. There is an existing attraction between the two of them. What turn will this attraction take the longer Meena stays employed by Eliza? Read the book after March 1^st and find out.
